History

C.R. Hipp, Inc. was incorporated in 1962 to serve the Low Country of South Carolina in the installation of the Mechanical needs of the community. For the past 45 years, we have gained an enviable reputation of quality construction performed in a timely manner. Since its establishment, Hipp has participated in the construction of some of the Low Country’s largest manufacturing facilities, U.S. Government facilities, and many fine buildings built by the private sector.

C.R. Hipp Construction Co., Inc. was merged with Building One Service Corporation on December 1, 1999, and became a division of Ivey Mechanical’s Southeast Region. Building One and Group Mac merged on February 22, 2000, and created a new four billion dollar a year organization called Encompass Service Corporation. C.R. Hipp Construction Co., Inc. was a major part of this re-organization and continued to promote quality mechanical work within the coastal region of South Carolina. Our name officially changed to Encompass Mechanical Services SouthEast, on January 1, 2002.

Encompass filed for Chapter 11 Protection in November 2002 and subsequently agreed to sell the Charleston Encompass location back to Al Hitchcock and David Gregg. The sale was completed on January 31, 2003. The name C.R. Hipp Construction, Inc. was part of the sale and now continues its reputation in the Charleston area.

On July 9, 2007, Pete L. Bailey joined the management team at C R Hipp Construction Inc as a partner and Vice President of Operations.
